As long as MS makes people act as hosts, Live will be a ripoff. this is the main reason you can't have as many people play online as you can with the PC or PS3. The lag is bad and hosts have a clear advantage over everyone else in many games.
If MS wants to improve Live, they need to start hosting their own servers for each game. That is where a Platinum SKU could enter the picture, and it would be worth it.
i watched the trailer from the link provided in the article and i didn't see what was so off-putting to the crowd. i thought it looked like any other shoot-em-up type film.
FPS's are the exact reason NOT to play on a 360. a gamepad is absolutely horrible for FPS's. the games have to be dumbed down by using auto aim and slowing the pace down just to compensate. and for what?...just so people can sit on their couch to play.

this, to me, is strictly an example of the vast differences between our culture and his (Japan). Japan is known for loving some absolutely crazy stuff that seems so trivial to us. this is just another example of something that will be very popular there because of their tastes.

totally...i'll never play a FPS on a console without a M+KB. i hate it. i used to play them with a controller but after playing a bunch of PC FPS's with the precise aim and control, i can't go back. i'm done with MS and Sony refusing to release a M+KB for their FPS's. it why i still haven't bought a console.
i've heard all the complaints about why they shouldn't have a M+KB but none of them are good IMO.

i totally agree with you (at least your first part). the only reason i didn't bring those up is because they weren't what i was talking about in relation to Nintendo.
all those games you mentioned are basically the same thing and i have no idea why they are so popular. i don't/won't play any of them. just a waste of time.

i thought their ideas on super smash brothers on the 360 were brilliant. i hope MS is listening. i don't care if it's a blatant ripoff either. if they can capture the basic premise of the game and build off the numerous shortcomings of the Wii's SSBM, they could create a much better game IMO.
this is backwards compatible with old games. i'm guessing there's going to need to be at least a little bit of programming for older games to utilize this. does the wii even do game patches?
